It’s hard to know where to begin, so I’ll start with the some facts. Kimberly and Dan met me at a wedding last year and we hit it off immediately. You know those people you instantly “click” with, and then you continue to peel back layers and realize that you’re meant to be friends? Voila. You’ve now hit the head on our relationship. We spent the next few months talking about their soon to be engagement and wedding. I anxiously awaited the news and the photos from when Dan proposed and I couldn’t have been happier when the news came through my phone with a subtle “ding”. Fast forward a few months later and I flew to Texas to spend a weekend with them for their engagement session. It felt fulfilling, it felt like something shifted in not only our friendship, but in how I started seeing all of this, and it felt right. We spent hours in the car venturing to locations, eating burgers, and ending the day with more burgers. And now we land here, on a mountain top in Colorado, with their closest family and friends, and an exponential level of joy. Those are the facts.
What the facts don’t tell you is of the character, the love, and the selflessness that these two possess. They lack in an explanation about where they get it from and the same things flow through their parents to a point where they have just as much love between the two sets as Dan and Kim have between each other. Details are missed at how we were encircled with a storm but never a drop hit us on this exposed side of a hill that gave us a viewpoint like no other. And overall, the facts leave out that I have never witnessed such joy and emotion in a wedding day. Kimberly and Dan give you a privilege when you’re around them, and it’s joy. Simple, unfiltered, and never saturated with anything else. The organic, cold-pressed, and farm raised kind of joy that comes from within and you know is nothing but real. That, my friends, is priceless to be around. It flows from them, to their friends and family, and it’s contagious.
I hope you see what this day was truly about, because they let that shine the brightest. A celebration of two people promising forever to one another, and nothing else. Simple and pure joy.
