As we come to the end of 2015, I’m so fiercely reminded of how my year began. With Kristin and Josh, an SUV with the most glorious heated seats, a lot of warm layers, and a mountain top in January. I remember being so nervous and excited at the same time to be the only one present on their wedding day. When I got to their house that morning, Kristin told me that I’m both the best man and maid of honor, which I took as the highest of compliments. We ate donuts, got the best brunch ever, talked for hours about everything, and then climbed to the top of Rough Ridge to get these two married. Their vows were poetic yet raw, their love kept them warm, their adventurous spirit made them brave, the way the held each other made time stand still, and the fact that no one else was up there was an unexpected yet necessary surprise. We didn’t see a single soul until halfway through our trek down, in fact we didn’t even notice we were alone until we saw another human. The only car in the parking lot, the only souls on the mountain, yet their joy carried the weight of everyone that brought these two to this point.
I’ll never take this day for granted, I’ll never forget choosing the spot that they started their forever together, I’ll never see the sun shine so brightly again, and I’ll always cherish these two for the rest of my days. Kristin and Josh, you not only trusted me, you drew me into your hearts with such magnetism and I hope to never leave.
pour toujours dans mon cœur .
